As The Rolling Barrage PTSD Foundation works to do with most of the organizations we disburse funds to, we spent time as part of the Can Praxis program in Lacombe Alberta this past weekend of the 25/26 November 2023.

Can Praxis is an Equine therapy based program for couples and families working to find ways through conflict resolution.

Whether your marriage or family time together has suffered from the devastating traumas of war, military operations, or front-line service as a first responder, the Can Praxis program provides the discussion and tools for healing those wounds.

Afraid of horses? Not to worry. The horses and practitioners at Can Praxis have developed ways to build trust between the clients and the animals, thereby diffusing the feelings of fear to the point you’re willing to take that step.

The costs incurred to provide a three-day program is extremely high. That’s where donations like the one we’ve made this weekend and earlier this year ($10K) are so important. Feeding the animals, the state-of-the-art stable, costs of the practitioners, and of course flights, accommodations, and meals for the clients, is all part of the overall cost.

As you can imagine flying, hotels for a couple or family and feeding them for 3 days is very expensive. And this was just one serial of many throughout the year.

As with the other organizations we support, I highly recommend looking into Can Praxis and what they can do for you and your family.

Can Praxis EAL is a Canadian registered charity, that provides mental health recovery programs for Canadian Veterans and First Responders (serving and retired) living with an Operational Stress Injury (OSI), such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

They incorporate equine therapy into their programs because horses understand us and can teach us about ourselves. Horses are experts at reading body language and pick up on all the non-verbal cues we bring to an interaction.

Founded in 2013 by a Canadian Military Veteran and a Trauma-focused clinician, Can Praxis is the leading Equine-Assisted Therapy provider for the Veteran and First Responder communities.
